Frequently asked

Where is my data stored?
Everything you write or speak stays on your device. Weave has no account and no server - your entries never leave your phone, and no one at Weave can read them.
Why is Weave downloading something on first launch?
On the first launch, Weave downloads its on-device AI models (about 2 GB) over Wi-Fi. This is what lets voice transcription and reflections run privately on your phone. You can start writing text entries right away; voice and reflections turn on automatically once the download finishes. Keep the app open and on Wi-Fi until it completes.
Does Weave work offline?
Yes. Once the initial download is done, the entire app - writing, voice transcription, and AI reflections - works fully offline, even in airplane mode.
How does the free trial and subscription work?
You get 7 days free. After that, Weave Pro is $3.99/month, billed through your Apple ID and renewing monthly until you cancel. Manage or cancel anytime in Settings → your Apple ID → Subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
I already subscribed but Weave isn't unlocking / I got a new phone.
Open the paywall and tap Restore purchases. This re-checks your Apple ID for an active subscription.
Can I back up or move my journal?
Yes. Weave can create an encrypted export of your journal that you save wherever you like through the iOS share sheet. Because your data lives only on your device, keeping your own backup is the way to move it to a new phone.
How do I delete my data?
Delete individual entries in the app, or uninstall Weave to remove everything from your device. Since Weave stores nothing on a server, there's nothing to request from us.
Is Weave a mental-health or medical tool?
No. Weave's reflections are meant to help you think about your own writing - they are not medical or psychological advice and are not a substitute for a qualified professional. If you're in crisis, please contact a licensed professional or local emergency services.
