# Weave > Weave is a journaling app where the AI runs on your phone, not in a data center. Voice or text - your entries never leave the device. Weave is being rebuilt as a private, on-device mobile app. The web preview at https://tryweave.app is available today while the mobile version is being built; the waitlist reserves your spot for the mobile release. ## What Weave is - **A journaling app.** Speak or type. The app reflects on what you wrote, notices patterns across weeks and months, and connects entries by meaning - so "I'm overwhelmed at work" can find "the pressure is crushing me" written months earlier. - **On-device AI.** The mobile app runs the voice transcription, the reflection generation, and the semantic memory search entirely on your phone. No cloud call, no model provider paid per token. - **Private by architecture, not by policy.** Entries never leave the device on the mobile app - there is no server-side copy to sell, subpoena, or breach. - **Works offline.** The mobile app is fully functional in airplane mode. ## The mobile pivot Weave started as a web app with cloud AI. That works, but every entry you write has to leave your phone to reach the model. The rebuild moves everything on-device: the phone is the server. The web preview at tryweave.app still uses cloud AI - signing up for the waitlist puts you in line for the private mobile version, and gives you the web preview to use in the meantime. ## Who Weave is for Anyone who wants to understand themselves, not just log their day. Writers, designers, therapists, and other people who think on paper are natural fits. So is anyone processing a difficult period - grief, burnout, a career change - where noticing patterns across months matters more than counting streaks. Especially for people who journal (or want to) and have a low-grade discomfort about typing intimate thoughts into a service whose business model depends on the data. ## Privacy - On the mobile app: entries live in a local database on the phone. There is no server we own that holds your writing. - On the web preview: entries are stored in our database while the mobile version is being built. Never sold, never shared with advertisers, never read by a person. - No entries are used to train external AI models. - Analytics on the marketing site are cookie-free (Umami). Pricing for the mobile app has not been set; it will be published transparently before charging anyone. Weave does not monetise user data. ## Key links - Landing page: https://tryweave.app/ - About Weave: https://tryweave.app/about - FAQ: https://tryweave.app/faq - Privacy policy: https://tryweave.app/privacy - Terms: https://tryweave.app/terms - Contact: hello@tryweave.app ## How Weave compares Weave is closer to a reflective companion than a mood logger. Day One is a long-form journal without AI memory. Daylio is mood-tracking around quick check-ins. Stoic combines prompts and mood but doesn't connect entries across time. Weave's differentiator is a semantic memory that links entries written months apart even when the wording is different, plus an on-device architecture where the AI runs on your phone rather than on a company's server. ## Models The AI that transcribes voice and reflects on entries runs entirely on the phone. Specific models can evolve as on-device inference improves; the promise is that whatever ships on your device is what does the work. Last updated: 2026-07-13
